It was designed from the inspiration of Chicago’s finest hotels with a lumber mill, electrical power plant, and foundry ready in 11 months of construction.

Traveling distance to Del

California was separated from the rest of the country by unsettled land so when guests traveled to ‘The Del’ it takes 7 days by train from the east. People at the time who were rich travel in their private rail cars that were hitched up to train’s back east and unhitched when reached the resort. The hotel also had a spur track on the property to make it convenient for the guests.
